The concept of celebrating birthdays perpetuates our belief that we age in time. From our earliest age birthdays indoctrinate us into the belief that "each year I get older." In the New World we celebrate the specialness of the individual annually (based on a spiritual calendar, see Time & Space), but it's not because they got a year older.
